Bucs Beat Astros

(Pittsburgh-AP) -- Matt Stairs helped Pittsburgh grab an early 5-to-1 lead in a 5-to-3 win over Houston. Stairs hit an R-B-I single while the Pirates were scoring three times in the first inning. He added a solo homer in the third to make it 5-to-1. Jason Kendall and Jack Wilson also had R-B-I singles. Brian Giles put the Bucs ahead to stay with a run-scoring double in the first.

Josh Fogg sailed until Jeff Bagwell and Jeff Kent socked back-to-back homers in the sixth. Fogg gave up three runs and six hits in five and a-third to get to 6-and-4. Mike Lincoln allowed two hits in the ninth before posting his second save. Tim Redding was reached for five runs and seven hits before leaving in the third. He's 6-and-9.
