Pitt To Face Notre Dame Saturday

PITTSBURGH, Pa —

Pitt renews ties with one of its most historic rivals when the Panthers host Notre Dame at Heinz Field. This will be the 67th meeting between the two schools in a series that dates back to 1909.

The respective teams enter Saturday's contest from different ends of the spectrum. Pitt fell victim to a furious rally at Iowa, dropping a 31-27 decision. Notre Dame, meanwhile, bounced back from its 0-2 start with a 31-13 rout of No. 15 Michigan State.

First-year Pitt coach Todd Graham is not unfamiliar with Notre Dame. One of the biggest victories of his career occurred in South Bend last year as his Tulsa team upset the Irish, 28-27.

Irish coach Brian Kelly is also familiar with Pitt, having coached Cincinnati to two Big East titles during his three-year tenure with the Bearcats (2007-09).
