(Altoona-AP) -- Shawn Garrett and Kevin Nicholson took advantage of two errors to back up seven shutout innings by Tom Fordham as the Altoona Curve beat the New Britain Rock Cats 2-0 Monday night. The errors, both in the fifth inning, marred New Britain starter J.D. Durbin's eight strong innings. He held Altoona to six hits and struck out seven.

Shaun Skrehot reached on a wild throw by second baseman Ryan Owen. Nicholson singled and Garrett rolled a single through the right side for the go-ahead run. Durbin then overthrew first base on Jose Castillo's roller back

to the mound allowing Nicholson to score.

Todd Ozias worked the final one and two-thirds innings for his 17th save as Altoona ended a four-game slide and ended New Britain's six-game winning streak. Terry Tiffee went three-for-four for the Rock Cats.
