Fastrak to invade North in 2007; Northeast Region formed with touring Late Model championship series to compliment weekly racing

(Pulaski, PA)…Auto racing’s fastest growing series has a new home. The Fastrak Racing Series, which spans from the Pacific Northwest, across the upper Midwest and down through the South, has added the Northeast Region to its expanding list. The Northeast Region is the 11th region under the Fastrak umbrella and will be managed and directed by Vicki Emig and Mike Leone.

The Fastrak Northeast Region Championship Series will be highlighted by a hopeful 15-race slate of events paying a minimum $1,200 to-win throughout western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and western New York, which will compliment the weekly racing series. Thus far Conneaut, Ohio’s Raceway 7, Smethport, Pennsylvania’s McKean County Raceway, and Delevan’s Freedom Raceway have already signed on with the Fastrak Late Models being their headlining division and a couple other additional speedways possibly joining the Fastrak fold.

“After talking with various promoters, drivers, and other industry leaders, I felt Vicki and Mike and were best to lead the Northeast Region,” explained Fastrak founder Stan Lester. “They understand all aspects of racing, know the region and its racers, and have a clear vision of the future of Fastrak and racing in that region. I’m quite confident in their abilities. Vicki has been involved in all areas of racing for the past 40-plus years by owning race cars and operating Mercer Raceway Park the past eight seasons Mike has been around racing for over 25 years in various capacities.”

Drivers will accumulate points at their weekly speedways and the regional events toward the three-day $50,000 Grand National event that was held this past season at three tracks over three days in the South, which culminated at South Carolina’s Lancaster Speedway. The National event then determines the $50,000 champion amongst a $250,000 point fund. Along with each individual track’s point fund, there will also be a regional point fund. Last year’s $50,000 National Championship was won by local racer, Steve Lamance, with a 1999 car and a $5,000 engine. Lamance also won a new Mastersbuilt chassis.

“I just appreciate all Fastrak has done not just for me, but for racing in general,” stated Lamance. “I struggled the last few years I ran Supers. I won races, but it just wasn’t fun anymore. Fastrak has made it affordable again to race. It takes the pressure off and you can have fun again doing this. I can’t believe how the Fastrak Series has grown. I know Stan struggled to get people on board in the beginning and everyone thought he had lost his mind but he never stopped. Actually he never stopped believing in the drivers. That’s what Fastrak really is about. Having fun and taking care of everyone along the way. Now with the $250,000 in 06 and Fastrak talking about it being even more in 2007 who knows where this thing will go? I really think we are looking at the next NASCAR.”

“This all came about very quickly,” explained Vicki Emig. “First off much credit goes to Scott Myers for taking the initiative of first attending the National Championship at Lancaster Speedway then getting the ball rolling with the local promoters and organizing Stan’s presentation a couple weeks ago. We liked Stan’s philosophy and vision for not only his series, but for the future for racing. It’s no secret that local racing is struggling throughout the country from all sides of the fence. We feel Fastrak Northeast can be a win-win for everyone- the drivers, the speedways, and the fans. The proof is in the South and there’s no reason it can’t flourish here. Our job is to be the liaison people and informational center so everything can flow smoothly.”

“I was sold on the Fastrak Late Models after attending my first race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina earlier this month,” revealed Mike Leone. “I honestly went to watch the Sprint Cars and didn’t have any expectations of the Fastrak Late Models, but with nearly 60 cars on hand for the $2,000 to-win event it was clearly the best race of the six divisions on hand and was one of the best Late Model races I’ve seen in some time. The top five cars raced two and three-wide the entire race, there was racing all through the pack in the competitive field, only one car was lapped which didn’t happen until turn three on the last lap, and there were just three cautions.”

A mass mailing will be sent to regional Late Model, E-Mod, and Stock Car racers as well as all of the regional speedways detailing additional information about Fastrak’s program and the Northeast Region. Stay tuned for further press releases and updates throughout the winter months. For more information on Fastrak, check out their website at www.fastrakracing.com. Fastrak Northeast’s office is located at 4368 Route 422, Pulaski, PA 16143 and can be reached out at 724-964-9300.

Fastrak was born in 2004 with five Late Models and grew to several hundred racers at 26 different weekly tracks in 2006. Those numbers are already on the rise for 2007 with 11 regions and possibly 50 weekly speedways. Fastrak is already in the development stages of an E-Mod and Winged Sprint Car division.
