Fifteen Area High School Football Players Named All-State In A and AA

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

The 2012 PIAA Sports Writers High School Football All-State teams were released for A and AA on Tuesday. Both classes saw a great amount of local talent, with 15 players in all being selected.

In Class AA final four team Richland led the way with two selections. Junior Tanner Solarczyk made the team as a running back and senior Josh Dininy on the offensive line. Penn Cambria senior linebacker Mack Behe and Ligonier Valley senior defensive lineman Stuart Urch represented the area on the defensive side.

In Class A the two final four teams each had two players selected. Port Allegany's senior stars Matt Bodamer and Nick Conway made the team as quarterback and wide receiver, respectively. The other semifinalist Bellwood-Antis was represented by junior running back Casey Gray and senior defensive lineman Keith Shawley.

Rounding out the Class A representatives on offense, Penns Manor Danny Ferens was selected as an Athlete, Curwensville's Spencer Smeal and Moshannon Valley's Austin Mital both on the offensive line, and Brockway's Phil Esposito in the kicker slot. All those players are seniors.

On defense in Class A three more seniors were selected. Bishop Guilfoyle defensive lineman Nick Ceschini, Northern Cambria linebacker Alex Atkins and Glendale defensive back Doug Twigg all made the team.

In total 15 players from the coverage area were selected, 13 seniors and two juniors.
