Johnstown Generals Cancel Game Against Sting

By Mike Tressa

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

The Johnstown Generals have cancelled their May 12th game due to an issue with the visiting team, the Western PA Sting. War Memorial GM Mike Silva said they are trying to regroup after the Generals, referees, and War Memorial workers showed up for the game but not the opponent.

"We want to provide entertainment for the community, so we want to know whats going on," said Silva when contacted by 6 Sports.

Silva went on to say that they would offer refunds for tonight's game but nothing has been confirmed on if or when the game will be rescheduled.

The Generals had issues earlier this season with paying players but team general manager Colleen Flowers previously said this game would be played.  The Sting and the Generals both have the same owner, Jeff Bollinger, who was unable to be reached by phone.

6 Sports was able to reach Generals Head Coach Quenteen Robinson who said he is done as coach and would rather spend extra time with his kids.

"I am done with it all," said Robinson. "A lot of people went out of their way to make this work and the owner has not held up his end of the bargain."

The UIFL is scheduled to have a press release on the Generals tomorrow.
