Giles Out With Knee Injury

Hyzdu Gets Call

CHICAGO (AP) - Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder Brian Giles sprained the medial collateral ligament on his right knee and will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday. The Pirates will recall Adam Hyzdu from Triple-A Nashville, team

spokesman Jim Trdinich said.

Giles injured the knee trying to stretch a single into a double during the fifth inning of Thursday's victory against Milwaukee, Trdinich said. The outfielder finished the game and was examined by team doctors afterward. Giles awoke with tenderness in the knee Friday and was taken to a hospital. He missed Friday's game against the Chicago Cubs.
