Fifty-nine local wrestlers earn trip to states

Seven wrestlers win regional titles from 6Sports area

A total of 59 wrestlers from the WJAC-TV viewing region earned a trip to Hershey and the state wrestling tournaments following their finishes at the Southwest "AA" and Northwest "AAA" regional meets.

Forest Hills senior Cody Law won his second straight Southwest "AA" regional championship at 160 pounds. Huntingdon's Collin Glorioso (106) and Ligonier Valley's Josh Patrick (120) were the only other local Southwest regional champions.

Thirty-five wrestlers earned top-five finishes in their weight brackets, clinching a spot in the Class AA state tournament which begins Thursday from the Giant Center in Hershey.

Six local wrestlers won regional titles in the Northwest "AAA" regional, including Punxsutawney's Kaleb Young (126), Altoona's TJ Brandt (138), Clearfield's Nolan Barger (145), DuBois' Tom Sleigh (170) and Landon Hanna (195), and Bald Eagle's Jake Taylor (182) and Nate Sharkey (220). Twenty-four wrestlers in all earned spots in the Class AAA state tournament by virtue of their top-4 finish in Altoona.
