(Latrobe-AP) -- Jerome Bettis took the handoff on the first play from scrimmage, broke a tackle and didn't stop until he was standing in the opposite end zone.
Bettis typically runs out all of his snaps during Steelers' training camp and defensive players typically don't wrap up tackles, but it brought back images of better days for Bettis.
Quarterback Tommy Maddox says Bettis looks as good as he did when both of them played for the Rams -- in 1994.
Receiver Hines Ward says Bettis -- the league's tenth all-time rusher -- looks hungry.
Bettis wants to get back to running it as much as he once did. Hampered by injuries for a second straight season, he rushed for 666 yards, easily his worst in six years as Steeler.
Bettis wants to run as much as he did in years past but faces competition from Amos Zereoue to be the Steelers starting running back.
