Lucas Wolfe scores in Kasey Kahne Foundation Sprint

MECHANICSBURG, PA – Lucas Wolfe scored a convincing victory in the 25-lap sprint car feature Wednesday night at Williams Grove Speedway in the 358/URC Shootout to benefit the Kasey Kahne Foundation.

Wolfe started fourth in a strong 24-car field and moved into second behind Kevin Welsh on lap two.

Welsh set the pace until lap five when Wolfe drove by on the outside.

Fred Rahmer, who started sixth, moved into the runnerup spot on lap six and began to chase the leader.

Wolfe maintained his advantage, however, before Rahmer was sidelined by mechanical problems on lap 17.

With Rahmer gone, Trevor Lewis moved into second place, but couldn’t stay with Wolfe, who opened a lead of more than a full straightaway.

Wolfe cruised to his first win of the season at Williams Grove. He earned $4000 for the victory, which included a $2000 bonus from Ollie’s Discount Outlets.

Lewis settled for second with Welsh third.

Chad Layton moved from the 15th starting position to finish fourth. Curt Michael came from 19th to complete the top five.

Ed Aikin, Kevin Nouse, Billy Johns, Mark Bitner and Jason Clauss finished in positions six through ten respectively.

NASCAR’s Nextel Cup stars Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney were involved in a first lap melee which sidelined them and four other cars for the remainder of the evening.

Wolfe out-qualified the 47 cars in competition with a lap of 18,228.

Heats were won by Brook Weibley, Layton, Nouse and Rahmer.

Kasey Kahne won the B-main and Frankie Herr copped the C.

Jake Lettich won the 15-lap limited late model feature. He was followed by Gene Knaub, Larry Baer, Mile Walls and Bob Dunn.
