Nittany Lions Find Rosters On Day Two

Dan Connor and Justin King heard their names called at the 2008 NFL Draft. However, it was a little later than they expected.

Connor, projected by many analysts as a first-round pick, had to wait until Carolina took him with the 11th pick of the third round.

"I didn’t expect it," Connor said of slipping in the draft. "But I’m still excited to be on the team right now and have mini-camp coming up. I don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world. I’m more excited about this being the start of a long NFL career."

His teammate in King had to wait an extra round. St. Louis nabbed the defensive back with the second pick of the fourth round. King left Penn State following his junior season, and was widely considered a second- or early third-rounder. He was the 101st overall pick of the draft, and saw 15 other cornerbacks taken ahead of him.

"He has great speed, and he has the size requirements that you need for the position," Rams coach Scott Linehan said on the Rams’ team Web site.

Three other Nittany Lions found their way onto rosters following the draft. Quarterback Anthony Morelli signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals late Sunday night. Wide receiver Terrell Golden signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Former running back Austin Scott received an invitation to the Cleveland Browns' tryout camp, which will take place this weekend.

As of Monday night, running back Rodney Kinlaw is the only Nittany Lion to not sign with an NFL team as a free agent.
