Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson and pitcher Ian Snell have been traded to Seattle for five players, including the Mariners top prospect in two of the last four seasons.

In return for Wilson and Snell, Pittsburgh received first baseman Jeff Clement, shortstop Ronny Cedeno, and right-handed pitchers Aaron Pribanic, Brett Lorin and Nathan Adcock.

Clement, 25, was the Mariners first-round selection in 2005 (3rd overall). He was rated by Baseball America as the organization's No. 1 prospect in 2006 and 2008.

He hit .288 with 14 home runs, 68 RBI, and 65 runs scored in 92 games this year for Triple-A Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League.

Cedeno, 26, the only player taken for Seattle's major league roster, is batting .167 this season in 59 games.

All three pitchers are Class A prospects, with Pribanic and Lorin making the Midwest League All-Star team this season. Lorin leads the league with 77 strikeouts.

Wilson, the Pirates longest tenured player, was batting .267 in 75 games for the Bucs.

Snell went 2-8 with a 5.36 ERA in 15 starts in Pittsburgh this season, but has been dominant in Triple-A Indianapolis, where he was 2-2 with a 0.96 ERA in 37 1/3 innings.
