(Altoona-AP) -- Danny Solano and Dominic Rich had back-to-back doubles to give Pittsburgh Pirates former first rounder John VanBenschoten his first loss since last season as the New Haven Ravens beat the Altoona Curve 1-0 Thursday night.

Solano and Rich had their back-to-back hits in the second inning against

VanBenschoten (5-1), who hadn't lost in 27 games since July Seventh, 2002 while pitching at Class A Hickory. He allowed seven hits and struck out six.

Ravens starter Cam Reimers (8-3) tossed eight shutout innings while handing the Curve their first loss since June 4. He held Altoona to seven hits and struck out six. Shawn Fagan went three-for-five for New Haven, while Rich and

John-Ford Griffin had two hits apiece. Josh Bonifay had two hits for Altoona but teammate Shaun Skrehot had his 13-game hitting streak snapped.
