Steelers Punter Sepulveda Out For Season With Torn ACL (7/29)

LATROBE, PA —

Pittsburgh Steelers punter Daniel Sepulveda will miss the entire 2008 season after tearing his ACL in his non-punting leg.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said the injury occured during practicing. It's the same knee he injured while punting in college.

"Unfortunate for Daniel on a personal level," Tomlin said. "But as you know, that's part of football. It's what this game is about. We've got to be prepared to move ahead."

The Steelers claimed Paul Ernster off waivers from the Detroit Lions to take Sepulveda's place. He is expected to arrive at the Steelers' camp Tuesday night.

Sepulveda was a fourth-round draft pick of the Steelers in 2007. As a rookie, he punted 68 times for an average of 42.4 yards per punt.

Backup quarterback Charlie Batch assumed Sepulveda's duties as Jeff Reed's kick-holder
