Steelers Training Camp Opens In Latrobe

LATROBE, PA —

One day after being placed on the physically unable to perform list by Head Coach Mike Tomlin, nose tackle Casey Hampton was on the practice field today, but not in pads like the rest of his teammates.

The all-pro defensive lineman ran on the side field during morning practice. Tomlin said he is not allowed to participate in practice until he gets in shape. Hampton was the only player on the Steelers 81-man roster to not finish the run-test on Sunday.

Safety Troy Polamalu (hamstring) and offensive lineman Chris Kemoeatu also remain on the PUP list. Tomlin said all three are listed on a day-to-day basis.

As for the rest of the team, players were just happy to put the pads on and get going after the offseason.

"It's our first day back in camp, man. I was tossing and turning all night thinking about it," wide receiver Santonio Holmes said. "I was pretty excited about getting the pads back on, but it's a long way to go and we've got to stay focused."

Defensive lineman Brett Keisel, "The best thing is being back with the fellas again, seeing everyone's smiling faces, especially you guys (in the media)."
