Suppan Wins Fourth Straight

(Pittsburgh-AP) -- Jeff Suppan won his fourth consecutive start and Pittsburgh used a five-run first to beat San Francisco 5-to-2. Suppan held the Giants to a run and seven hits over seven innings to remain unbeaten this season. His only mistake was Edgardo Alfonzo's solo homer in the third. Suppan has allowed just one run in four straight outings.

Jesse Foppert was wild early in his first start for the Giants. He walked two batters and hit another before Pokey Reese and Jack Wilson delivered two-run singles. Foppert was charged with five hits and four walks in four innings. San Francisco has dropped two straight for the first time this season, falling to 15-and-4. The Giants played without Barry Bonds, who sat out the game with a sore neck.
