Zereoue Beats Out Bettis With Steelers

(Pittsburgh-AP) -- The tenth-leading rusher in N-F-L history has lost his starting job.

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher says Jerome Bettis will open the season on the bench, clearing the way for Amos Zereoue (ZEHR'-uh-way) to start.

Zereoue replaced an injured Bettis at the end of each of the last two seasons.

Bettis is the second-leading rusher in Steelers' history behind Franco Harris.

In announcing the change, Cowher was quick to point out that a coach can very easily change running backs.
