Giants QB Manning Suffers Bruised Chest

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

(Sports Network) - New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning suffered a bruised chest in a 35-14 loss at Cleveland Monday night.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin didn't offer a prognosis on Manning's condition nor did he know if the reigning Super Bowl MVP would be able to practice before the Giants host San Francisco this coming Sunday.

"I am not going to know until I hear some things," Coughlin said. "From time to time, obviously, throughout anybody's career that plays that position, you are going to have some things that don't allow you to perform at your best. Injuries do occur. I know Eli has played very well with...if it is soreness or that type of thing, I am sure that will be something that he will be able to go ahead and practice and play with, but we will see. As I said, I don't have a lot of information right now."

Manning was picked off three times Monday, while completing 18-of-28 passes for 196 yards with a score for New York (4-1).

The coach also said center Shaun O'Hara was admitted to a hospital for an infected toe, and said safety James Butler has a biceps strain.
