Seahawks Sign CB Lucas, FB Griffith
Renton, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with free agents cornerback Ken Lucas and fullback Justin Griffith on Monday.Terms of the contracts were not released although its been reported both are for one year. The moves come one day after the team rescinded the franchise tag on linebacker Leroy Hill, freeing up $8.3 million in cap space. This will be Lucas' second stint with Seattle as the Ole Miss product was originally a second-round selection by the Seahawks in the 2001 NFL Draft. The 30-year-old went on to play four seasons for Seattle before signing with Carolina, where he spent the past four seasons. Lucas started all 16 games for the Panthers in 2008, logging 60 tackles, 10 passes defensed and two interceptions. In 122 career contests, 106 of those starts, Lucas has compiled 506 tackles, 100 passes defensed and 24 interceptions. Griffith spent the past two seasons with Oakland after playing his first four years in the league with Atlanta. Primarily used in blocking schemes, the 28- year-old has 407 rushing yards with 122 catches for 871 yards and 12 total touchdowns in 83 career games (61 starts).
