McCabe's OT Tally Lifts Panthers Over Detroit

(Sports Network) - Bryan McCabe's goal just 40 seconds into overtime gave the Florida Panthers a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

In the extra session, Stephen Weiss sent a pass from the left point to the right circle where McCabe's one-timer beat Chris Osgood cleanly for the win.

"I didn't see the pass. There were a couple of guys in front of me," recalled Osgood. "It's a shot where you have to take away the far side. [McCabe] made a nice shot."

Weiss had a goal in regulation while Scott Clemmensen made 39 saves for the Panthers, who have won four of their last five games.

"It was a big win for us," McCabe said. "To get a big win like this, against one of the best teams in the league, is a big confidence boost for our club."

Pavel Datsyuk scored a goal while Osgood finished the game with 18 saves for the Red Wings, who have dropped their past two games.

After a scoreless first period, the Red Wings made it a 1-0 game on a power- play goal with 2:02 to play in the second. Henrik Zetterberg flipped a quick pass from the low right side to the front where Datsyuk tapped in his second chance for his fifth goal of the season.

The Panthers, though, tied the game 8:13 into the third period as Weiss' shot from the low right side beat Osgood for his seventh goal on the campaign.
