The BankAtlantic Center is located in a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, Florida called Sunrise. The indoor arena first opened on October 3, 1998; however, the name, BankAtlantic Center Fort Lauderdale did not become official until about seven years after its opening.

The BankAtlantic Center Fort Lauderdale is home to the NHL’s Florida Panthers and the Lingerie Football League’s (LFL) Miami Caliente. The American Basketball Association’s (ABA) Florida Pit Bulls, the National Professional Soccer League’s (NPSL) Florida ThunderCats and the AFL’s Florida Bobcats had all been home teams of BankAtlantic Center Fort Lauderdale but had all eventually left when they folded. The BankAtlantic Center Fort Lauderdale also annually hosts the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic every December.

What was at one point or another called the Broward County Civic Arena, the National Car Rental Center and the Office Depot Center, is now Fort Lauderdale’s own BankAtlantic Center. Although the name of this arena has changed numerous times, the BankAtlantic Center's schedule of musical events continues to be one of the best in the nation. The BankAtlantic Center schedule has included epic musical performances by KISS, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Miley Cyrus in the past five years alone. The BankAtlantic Center schedule continues to welcome massive, world-class acts with stars including Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Rihanna lined up for 2011 alone.
