Palin Supporters Gear Up For Johnstown Visit

Many supporters of vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin lined up Tuesday to get tickets to see her.

Palin will be at the Johnstown War Memorial on Saturday.

Even before tickets were available, people lined up at the Republican headquarters in downtown Johnstown as early as 8 a.m.

"I'm very excited. It's really something to see her in the vice presidential debates, but to actually see her here in person, it's going to be something different," said Johnstown resident Eric Reigh.

Organizers said they have been receiving calls about the tickets for days. Despite what some people have heard, Sen. John McCain will not be at the event.

Local Republican Party Chairman Rob Gleasons said, "It's very important that the candidates come visit the people here. They get enthusiastic."

Workers at the Johnstown Republican headquarters said they hope to have 4,000 tickets available. Other headquarters in Blair and Somerset counties hope to get 6,000 to 8,000 tickets.

Organizers recommended that people allow themselves enough time to find parking on Saturday, as traffic is expected to be heavy.
