Pa. Senator To Introduce Bill Banning Same-Sex Marriage

A state senator was in Blair County on Tuesday lobbying for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in Pennsylvania.Sen. John Eichelberger introduced the bill, which he said is already present in 30 other states.Eichelberger addressed a crowd of about 100 people at the Blair County Courthouse and told them he is introducing the bill on Wednesday. He said he is also looking for other lawmakers to co-sponsor it with him.He said while Pennsylvania law already defines marriage between a man and a woman, he want to amend the constitution to focus on the court system.He said if the state has a bill banning same-sex marriage, then a judge would not be able to overturn the law. He said he chose to address the bill on primary election day because voters will be able to shoes a judge they believe will represent them the best and in turn make the deEichelberger emphasized the bill is not meant to condemn same-sex relationships, but instead to define marriage as public.
