Ohio Candidate Halts Campaign After Arrest

An Ohio congressional candidate suspended her campaign Monday after being arrested along with her husband on domestic violence charges.

The statement was issued after a pair of 911 calls were made by Stephanie Studebaker and her father-in-law on Sunday morning. Both reported domestic violence incidents involving Studebaker and her husband, Sam, at their home in Washington Township, according to WOTV-TV in Dayton.

Sam Studebaker told officers his wife had been beating him. The incident report noted both had marks on their bodies and that both signed complaints against the other.

Stephanie Studebaker is running as a Democrat for a Dayton-area seat. She was unavailable for comment, according to her spokesman.

A statement on the campaign's Web site said all activities were being suspended "for the time being" due to personal issues.

"Due to personal issues, The Studebaker For Congress campaign is suspending all campaign activities," Stephanie Studebaker said in the statement. "We will inform our supporters and the media of any future developments, but request the privacy of our campaign be respected during this time."

Studebaker and her husband were each released on $25,000 bond.
