Just two days away from the Altoona Curve's home opener, Blair County commissioners declared Tuesday a day to honor the team.

The commissioner proclaimed Thursday as Rob and Bob Loziank Day. The Loziank family first brought the team to Altoona in 1999, but had to sell the team in 2002. They repurchased the team in December 2008.

The Curve kicked off their 2009 season in Erie and is currently 0 and 5.

The team's home opener will start at 6::35 p.m. Thursday and will include several events. Steelers. linebacker and Superbowl champion Lamarr Woodley will throw the games' ceremonial first pitch. There will also be some new items on the food menu, as well as less expensive tickets.

Crews also laid down new Kentucky Blue Grass a few weeks ago, and the Curve's general manager said the field is coming in nicely.

Fans can also expect to see a new fireworks display.
