San Francisco 49ers 2009 NFL Draft Review
(Sports Network) -1 - Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech (6-1, 215); 3 - Glen Coffee, RB, Alabama (6-0, 209); 5 - Scott McKillop, ILB, Pittsburgh (6-1, 244); 5 - Nate Davis, QB, Ball State (6-1, 226); 6 - Bear Pascoe, TE, Fresno State (6-5, 251); 7 - Curtis Taylor, S, LSU (6-2, 209); 7 - Ricky Jean-Francois, DT, LSU (6-2, 294) Analysis: Crabtree may have been the steal of the Draft, falling all the way to No. 10, presumably because of injury and/or character issues. The 49ers still don't know exactly who's going to be pulling the trigger this year, but whoever it is has a bona fide No. 1 receiver at his disposal. Will be interesting to watch Crabtree compete with Darrius Heyward-Bey across the Bay in Oakland. It was thought that the Niners would draft a running back to back Frank Gore, but leaving N.C. State's Andre Brown on the board in order to select the oft-injured Coffee is somewhat questionable. McKillop is a high- effort guy who should at least stick on special teams. Davis did not impress many scouts but was worth the No. 171 overall pick for a team with QB issues. Bottom Line: Crabtree will help, but a team that also had offensive tackle and secondary concerns counted the wideout as their only real difference-making addition. Grade: C
