PSU Volleyball Opens Title Defense Thursday

The Penn State men's volleyball team is two wins away from capturing their second consecutive National Championship.

After winning their 11th straight EIVA conference title on Saturday, the No. 5 Nittany Lions (27-3) have earned the 2-seed in the NCAA Championship. They will face No. 4 and third-seeded Southern California (20-10) on Thursday, May 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Top-seed UC-Irvine (25-5) will face fourth-seed Ohio State (16-10) in the other national semifinal.

Penn State is the defending men's volleyball national champion. The Nittany Lions defeated the Trojans in the 2008-09 season opener, winning three sets to two. They are 6-15 all-time against USC, and 1-2 in NCAA tournament play.
