GAME NOTES: The Wright State Raiders and Belmont Bruins wrap up their stay in the Athletes in Action Classic, when they face each other tonight in Seattle. This tourney in a four-team, round-robin even that spans three nights.

The Raiders opened their season with a tough matchup against the host of this tourney, but showed a glimpse of their potential in a narrow 74-69 loss to 14th-ranked Washington on Friday. WSU bounced back from that setback last night, topping Portland State, 75-70, for its first win of the campaign. Following this event, the Raiders will return home to host Central Michigan on November 24th.

As for the Bruins, they jumped out of the gate quickly and picked up a 74-67 victory over Portland State to kickoff their season and this tourney on Friday. Belmont, however, was met with a much stiffer task last night and was unable to stay with Washington in a 96-78 loss. The Bruins will entertain Alabama State in their home opener on Saturday.

Tonight's game marks the fourth all-time meeting between Belmont and WSU, with the Raiders holding a 2-1 edge in the series.

The Raiders shot a sizzling 54.9 percent from the floor and went 7-of-17 from beyond the arc, as they downed PSU last night. WSU actually led 39-24 at the half before PSU mounted a comeback. The Raiders though, made five free throws over the final 29 seconds to preserve the win. Cory Cooperwood led the charge with 19 points on 8-of-13 field goals, a nice improvement from his six-point effort in the team's opener. Troy Tabler, who was 0-of-5 from long range against Washington, bounced back last night to score a career-best 16 points. N'Gai Evans and Todd Brown combined for 38 points on Friday and they each had 11 points last night.

The Bruins were simply no match for a bigger Washington club, as the Huskies dominated the boards, 48-24, including 22-5 on the offensive glass of last night's bout. Belmont, which won the battle on the boards in the opener, did shoot 50.9 percent from the floor to try and hang tough last night. The team also went 7-of-18 from long distance and 17-of-24 at the foul line, although it was guilty of 15 turnovers. Scott Saunders came off the bench and paced Belmont last night with 18 points and five boards. Ian Clark, who scored a team-high 21 points in the opener, added 14 points against Washington and Keaton Belcher chipped in with 12.

The Raiders are the more sound team from top to bottom and they should be able to get past a Belmont club that isn't as experienced.

Predicted Outcome

Wright State 74, Belmont 66
