MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- The 20-year-old woman who has accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault plans on returning to Georgia College and State University next week. Her attorney said the woman took a week off from school and is staying with her parents in Atlanta.Police in Milledgeville, Ga., said the investigation could take several weeks. On Monday, investigators said they planned to interview Roethlisberger and at least seven other people who were with him. The interviews were expected to take place this week. But Roethlisberger’s attorney in Atlanta, Ed Garland, wouldn’t say when or if that will happen.“I’m not going to say either way,” Garland told Channel 11 News. “That’s the approach we are going to take.”Garland also wouldn’t say whether Roethlisberger would submit a DNA sample to investigators. Garland, however, said he would give police the names of the people who were with Roethlisberger Friday night, when the alleged incident happened at a Milledgeville nightclub.Garland said he has a team of investigators working on the case and that Roethlisberger is taking the process very seriously.Garland insists Roethlisberger will be cleared of any wrongdoing.“There was absolutely no criminal activity,” Garland said. “It’s my belief that this will end without any charges against Ben.”Garland has represented many prominent athletes, including NFL star Ray Lewis. The alleged victim and her family have also hired an attorney. They issued the following statement Tuesday, defending her actions from last week."Their daughter has done the right thing and reported this matter to the police," reads the statement released by the attorneys' Atlanta law firm, Parks, Chesin & Walbert. "She has been, and will be, available to the authorities to assist them in the criminal investigation. While the matter is under investigation, we ask you to respect her privacy, keep her name out of the press and allow the family space and time to heal."Roethlisberger, who owns a home about 30 miles north of Milledgeville on Lake Oconee, is also being sued by a woman who claims he raped her in 2008 at a hotel-casino in Lake Tahoe hotel and casino, an allegation he strongly denies.
