Updated: Sunday, April 13 2014, 12:12 PM EDT

STATE COLLEGE -- Penn State's Pegula Ice Arena will open to the public in three weeks for the start of the Nittany Lions hockey season.

Thanks to an $88-million donation from Penn State alumnus and current Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula, the complex hosts two NHL-regulation sized ice rinks and 6,000 seats.

WJAC-TV news reporter Gary Sinderson was amongst a group of reporters given a tour of the new facility Wednesday, which is set to debut on Friday, October 11 for Penn State's season opener with Army.
