Matt joined the WJAC-TV Sports Department in June 2007 and is now the 6 Sports Senior Anchor/Reporter.
A native of Pittsburgh and raised both there and in Harrisburg, he is thrilled to still be in Pennsylvania covering the teams he grew up watching.
"I was born in Pittsburgh, and by the time I was five years old, I had a Terrible Towel in my hands," Matt said. "Even though it's a little different being press on the other side of the fence, I know how passionate people in this region are about all their sports teams."
Since arriving in Johnstown, Matt had, what he says was the privilege in working with longtime WJAC Sports Director Tim Rigby. Matt adds the wildest story he's covered since coming to WJAC was the week in November 2011 when longtime Penn State football head coach Joe Paterno was fired.
Matt comes to Johnstown from Syracuse University. He was Sports Director for CitrusTV -- the nation's oldest and largest student-run television station -- and also served as a reporter, anchor, and producer while working there. The most memorable story Matt covered in Syracuse was the basketball team's run in the 2006 Big East Tournament. He also was a production assistant for NBC at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
In his spare time, you can often find Matt on the tennis court or trying to break 100 on the golf course.
If you have a story idea or comment for Matt, he'd love to hear from you. You can e-mail him at matt.maisel@wjactv.com or follow him on Twitter @Matt_Maisel.
