Affordable Homes Moving To State College Area

A few affordable homes are moving to the State College area, thanks to donations by a local family and a local businessman.

The duplexes, a total of four homes, were donated by a local family. A local businessman split the cost of moving the homes to the Woodycrest Area of Patton Township at the site of the former Mellot Trailer Park.

Officials with Habitat for Humanity, which is one of the groups helping with the project, said the homes typically cost between $50,000 and $70,000, far less than the average $200,000 home.

The Centre County Housing and Land Trust, which spearheaded the project, was formed last summer.

The homes are expected to be in place by next week.
