CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. -- A Cambria County girl is inspiring others to persevere by overcoming her own obstacles.India Scott, 12, is blind, but she doesn't let that hide her talents. Each Saturday home game, India marches in the Blacklick Valley Band and plays the cymbals.Off the field, she sings, plays piano and the recorder and takes trombone lessons. She's also part of the Reading Team and wants to join the Drama Club.Scott was blinded at age 5 when a tumor pressed on her optic nerve.Every two weeks, she still receives chemotherapy for the tumor, but her adoptive mother said India never complains.India's positive attitude rubs off on just about everyone she meets. And with her ability to learn music by ear, she is a leader both on the field and off."For all of us, she's a reminder that if you want to do something, it doesn't really matter what obstacles might be presented to you. If you have the dedication and the drive and the attitude, the sky is the limit," said Jessica Stazisar, Color Guard coach.
