TYRONE, Pa. -- The sound of sizzling of bacon is being credited for creating more jobs at a Blair County meat plant.

Officials with Kunzler and Co. in Tyrone told the Altoona Mirror that the company added 13 employees last week and plan to add up to 10 more this year as they increase production of all-natural bacon.

Plant manager Dave Grazier told the Mirror the company is producing about 120,000 pounds of natural bacon each week, on top of making 250,000 pounds of its regularly processed bacon.

The all-natural product uses sea salt and raw sugar, and doesnt include any man-made cures of preservatives.

The company is headquartered in Lancaster, Pa. The Tyrone plant, with its 175 employees, is the only one in the company that produces bacon.

Company officials said a worldwide demand for bacon is a contributing factor to the companys growth.
