ALTOONA, Pa. -- A young child called emergency dispatchers to report a stabbing in Blair County, according to police.

Altoona police said Claudette Leigh Williams, 29, was charged with attempted homicide for stabbing a man in the stomach just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in a home at 312 S. 5th St.

Police said an argument that started in a different location between Williams and the man escalated into Williams stabbing the man in the stomach with an eight-inch knife at the house.

Police said a young child was in the house at the time of the stabbing and called authorities.

Police said the victim, whose name was not released, was taken to UPMC Altoona and underwent surgery for his stab wounds. His condition was not known.

In addition to the attempted homicide charge, Williams was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault and other charges, police said. She was placed in the Blair County Prison on $100,000 bail.
