ALLEGHENY TWP., CAMBRIA CO., Pa. State Police in Ebensburg released new details Saturday morning from the late night shooting near Ashville that left four people dead.
They said the shooting happened at 10:02 Friday night at 643 Bottom Road in Allegheny Township.
Police said in a news release a call from the homeowner reported that two people broke into his house, shot and killed his wife and adult son. They said the homeowner then shot the intruders.
When first responders arrived, they found the callers wife shot to death at the front door and the son dead in the kitchen. Police have not released the names of any of the victims, but described the woman simply as 64-years-old and the son as age 47.
Police said the unidentified male intruder was found dead in the kitchen, while the unidentified female intruder was still alive with a gunshot wound to the head in the living room.
The woman was taken to UPMC Altoona where she was pronounced dead.
At an early morning news briefing at the scene, Cambria County District Attorney Kelly Callihan described the unidentified female intruder as the daughter of the homeowners. She confirmed that statement again to 6 News. She also said it appears the male intruder is the daughters husband.
The state police release said a motive is unknown at this time and autopsies are being performed Saturday.
