CAMBRIA TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A 16-year-old student is in custody after school officials found him with a loaded gun, Cambria Township police told 6 News.

Police said the gun was loaded with five rounds, but there were no extra clips of ammunition.

The school director of Admiral Peary Vo-Tech said a fellow student gave an anonymous tip to a guidance counselor about the gun.  School administrators went to the classroom and pulled the armed student out of class.  The director said the student surrendered the gun.

Police said the students parents didnt know where he got the gun.  Police said they are investigating that.

The student has been suspended for 10 days and will have a disciplinary hearing with the school board, the school director said.  The student could be expelled.

Police said he didnt threaten anyone with the gun, and is charged with having a weapon on school property as well as possession of a firearm by a minor.
