Community recognizes 6th grader diagnosed with leukemia

By: WJAC Web Staff

GALLITZIN, Pa. -- Students and teachers at Penn Cambria Middle School raffled off more than two hundred baskets Sunday for a 6th grader with leukemia.

The baskets were all donated to the event along with bracelets and even an iPad for Elijha Noel who shied away from our cameras.

Organizers and his family were proud and thankful the community stepped up to help out.

The response today had been incredible, said Penn Cambria Middle School mom Amanda Mullen. We had lots of people here today. We had 205 baskets donated to help out Elijha and his family.

Im thankful for the community and everything they did, said Elijah brother Noah.

Organizers said the event was packed full of neighbors and family even before it was scheduled to start.
