State police conduct checkpoints to keep community safe

WEST TAYLOR TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- State police in Ebensburg conducted a DUI checkpoint on Route 403 in West Taylor Township, Cambria County, Friday and Saturday.

Police said during the checkpoint that was conducted, to ensure safety during Thunder in the Valley, several enforcement actions occurred.

Authorities said 11 were arrested for driving under the influence, three were arrested for drugs, 83 were given traffic citations and 41 warnings were given out.

State police wanted to remind everybody that thousands of injuries that occur due to impaired driving are preventable.

They also want to remind citizens that motorists will face fines totaling thousands of dollars and can include jail time and loss of driving privileges.
