STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- For the second time in a week, a Penn State University student fell from a balcony in State College.

State College police said Andrew Shearer, 19, fell from a second-floor balcony at the Palmerton Apartments on West Beaver Avenue at about 1 a.m. Friday.

The fall was estimated to be about 16 feet and Shearer was believed to have been drinking and suffered a leg fracture, police said.

Shearer was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center before being taken to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment of trauma-related injuries, police said.

Police said two people have been identified for furnishing alcohol to Shearer and charges will be filed once the investigation is complete.

On Saturday, State College police investigated the death of Conor MacMannis, 20, who fell nine stories from a balcony at Penn Tower.

Investigators said MacMannis was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the fall.
