ALTOONA, Pa. -- It can be a struggle for anyone who has lost a loved one, but that can be especially difficult during the holiday season. A local company is kicking off its annual campaign to give families an opportunity to remember those who have died.

Home Nursing Agency, based in Altoona, is again gearing up for its Lights of Love campaign that allows people to honor the memory of someone close to them who has died.

The agency is decorating trees at its home office along Plank Road, and at offices throughout other area counties, in white and blue lights to benefit Home Nursing Agencys Hospice and Grief Services program.

"It benefits so many children and families in the area, said Agency Patient Care Supervisor Annie Wright. [It] is something we want keep going so we can provide that service.

Donations are being accepted for the lights with white lights representing the hospice program and blue lights representing grief services for children, adults and families. Donations of any amount will be accepted.

Donations can be made by calling 1-800-992-2554 or visiting Home Nursing Agency's website at www.homenursingagency.com.

We provide skilled nursing, social work, a chaplin, aid services, and our goal is to make [patients] as comfortable as possible to realize any goals that they might have, said Agency Director of Operations MaryAnn Beyer. We can help them to achieve those things."

Additionally this year, donors can write personal dedications in memory or honor of their loved ones that will be featured on an interactive tree on the agency's website.

You should be celebrated, you should have the comfort and the compassion and the love of your family, friends and also your hospice team, Wright said.

Lights of Love tree lighting ceremonies will take place on Nov. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at several Home Nursing Agency offices and locations in the area. Trees will remain lit through Jan. 10.

Ceremonies will take place at the Altoona (20 Sheraton Dr.), Ebensburg (118 Ebony Rd.), Huntingdon (9492 William Penn Highway), Clymer (320 Franklin St.) and Lewistown (129 S. Main St.) offices as well as the the Public Square in Bedford, the corner of South Atherton Street and Scenery Drive in State College and in the Chambersburg Mall near Auntie Anne's.
