Centre County restaurant raises money for hero

By: Erin Calandra and WJAC web staff

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa.-- A State College restaurant owner is raising money for local hero Adam Hartswick.  Hartswick, a combat medic, lost his legs after stepping on a roadside bomb in Afghanistan last May.

The owner of Otto's, Roger Garthwaite, is hoping to fill a 20-foot tree with red, white and blue ribbons.  They each cost $5 and all the money raised will go directly to Hartswick.
"Hartswick is an American hero and he's from our community we need to help people from our community, Garthwaite said.

The goal is 1,000 ribbons, and if they reach that goal, Otto's will donate $1,000 to the fund.  So far they've sold about 350.
