By: WJAC Web Staff

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. -- A Centre County teenager took home top awards at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Elijah Shirk is an 11th grader from Bellefonte who goes to the Milton Hersey School. At this years farm show, he won a master showmanship award for his presentation of his Hereford early spring Heifer Calf.

He also won second place in the goat competition and said its all thanks to hard work.

Its another thing, like being a hard worker, said Shirk. Youve got to be able to be a hard worker. Its not something that everybody can do. If it was easy, everybody could do it.
So its pretty challenging and I like to be challenged and use that in my schoolwork.

Elijah is hoping to head back home and attend Penn State majoring in agriculture.
