Man captured in Texas after three-month search

BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- After a three-month search one man who is accused of two violent robberies in Centre County is back to face a judge.

Eric Brown, from the Philadelphia area, sprayed a clerk at the Centre Mart in Bellefonte last August and then stole a cash register, police said.

Brown is also a suspect in another robbery that occurred one week before the Centre Mart theft.

Police said one week before he was at a Sunoco in Snow Shoe when he pulled a gun on a clerk demanding money.

Assistant District Attorney Nathan Boob said linking Brown to both of the crimes came from teamwork.

State police were able to find fingerprints from an ice tea bottle left at the Sunoco robbery and when the prints came back they were Brown's.

"They were able to work together," said Boob. "Put together a line up and pepper spray in Bellefonte and ID as robber."

Police said they believe Brown left the area due to the three month search.

Police received a tip that sent them to Angelina County in Texas where police were able to pick him up and extradited him back to Centre County Saturday.

"We have violent offenders coming in our area putting guns and spraying people with pepper spray,"  Boob said "Something we frown upon and looking to prosecute."

Brown is in the Centre County jail on $100,000 bail and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
