Centre Co. man pleads guilty to State College robberies

By: Marc Stempka

BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- A Centre County man has plead guilty to robbing two businesses and burglarizing another in three days in the fall of 2013.

Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said in a news release Tuesday that Jonathan J. Tenalio, 26, of Bellefonte, plead guilty Monday to robbery, burglary and weapons charges.

Prosecutors said Tenalio robbed Cove Pizzeria in State College on Sept. 25 and the Nittany Budget Motel in Ferguson Township on Sept. 26. Tenalio used a handgun in both robberies, pointing it at employees, taking $226 from the pizza shop and $99 from the motel.

Prosecutors said Tenalio also burglarized Doan's Bones Barbeque on Sept. 24 by breaking into the restaurant with a baseball bat and stealing approximately $200.

Tenalio was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to prior felony burglary convictions in 2010, Parks Miller said, leading to the additional weapons charges.

Tenalio faces 12-30 years in a state prison and will be sentenced June 6, Parks Miller said. The jail time is a result of the plea agreement.
