Flood clean up continues Thursday morning

BOSWELL, Pa. Some residents of the Somerset community of Boswell were still cleaning up yards and basements before the sun rose on Thursday morning.  Heavy rains caused flash flooding Wednesday that damaged homes, businesses and roads.

A resident of Allegheny Street showed 6 News reporter Kerri Corrado the clean-up effort happening in her basement before 5 oclock in the morning.  She said she had about two feet of water in it.

She said the flood waters destroyed her washer and dryer and damaged clothes and other appliances.

As 6 News reported on Wednesday, borough officials said they were forced to remove an old reservoir from above the town because the state Department of Environmental Protection feared the abandoned dam posed a bigger safety issue.
