More drug arrests in Altoona; investigators seize drugs and money

By: Kerri Corrado

ALTOONA, Pa.

Police arrested five people while seizing a significant amount of drugs in Blair County.

Officers with the Altoona police, the Blair County district attorney's office, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and the Bureau of Narcotics Investigation arrested Roman McCray, Sean Morris, Heather Saylor, Elizabeth Hornberger and Joseph Despot around 8 p.m. Tuesday in Altoona

Investigators say they recovered 161 packets of heroin and 2 ounces of crack cocaine worth more than $9,000. They also found $1,000 in cash, some marijuana and drug packaging equipment, all inside a home on 18th Avenue.

"Knew we were there and tried to destroy it," Narcotics agent James Walstrom said.

Walstrom says McCray and Morris tried to flush the drugs down the toilet when they noticed officers arriving.

Walstom said McCray is from Pittsburgh and had been using the home for about two weeks, while making trips back and forth to Pittsburgh.

Along with the five arrests,10 other people were arrested after a string of drug busts earlier in the week.

Investigators urge anyone who notices suspicious activity in their neighborhood to call the "Push out the Pusher" hot line at 693-3020.
