Bus driver cited in crash that injures 1 student, other driver

POTTER TWP., CENTRE CO., Pa. State police in Centre County said a school bus carrying 13 students crashed with a pickup truck in Potter Twp. on Friday morning, sending one student and the pickups driver to the hospital.

State police said the bus driver, 68-year-old Boyd Homan of Centre Hall, pulled out from a stop sign and into the path of a Tacoma pick-up driven by 61-year-old Harold Carolus of Lewistown at 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Rt. 322 and Sand Mt. Road.

The injury to the student was described as minor, while Carolus injuries were described as major.  Homan was not injured, police said.

The students on the bus ranged from 10 to 18 years old and attend the Penns Valley School District.

Police said Homan was at fault.
