PA Superior Court panel to hear Jerry Sandusky appeal

Appeal argument to be heard in September

By Marc Stempka and Associated Press

HARRISBURG -- A three-judge panel from the Pennsylvania Superior Court will hear appeal arguments of convicted child sexual abuser Jerry Sandusky next month.

The Associated Press reported Thursday that the panel will hear the appeal at Dallas Senior High School in Luzerne County, in northeastern Pennsylvania, on Sept. 17.

Judge Jack Panella said the Sandusky case will be one of the first of 45 cases the panel will consider during the session, the AP reported.

Court documents stated these will be oral appeal arguments. No information was available regarding whether or not Sandusky would be present at the appeal hearing.

Sandusky was sentenced in October 2012 to 30-60 years in the state prison after being found guilty of abusing 10 boys. He is serving his sentence at a state prison in Waynesburg, Greene County.

Sanduskys attorneys filed an appeal to his conviction in February.

Dallas, Pa., is approximately 10 miles north of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
