Soccer tournament raises big money for United Way and Easter Seals

Thousands of soccer players hit the field in Happy Valley this weekend to raise money for the Centre County United Way and Easter Seals charities.

It was part of the Kicks for Kids tournament to benefit local charities in the county.

Organizers said it is the 8th annual Penn State 8 vs. 8 soccer event and it attracted teams from New York and Maryland as well as here in Pennsylvania.

The kids are playing soccer to help organizations that help kids," said organizer Jeff Steiner.

The event along with another tournament exceeded goals, raising nearly $50,000.
"The organization has raised almost a quarter of a million dollars for youth charities, Steiner said.
